We wanted to share some recent developments with you. It was announced this week that Prime Outlets was sold to Simon Property Group

. Prime Outlets has been a great partner in opposing the Tri-County Landfill and we are very sad to learn of this change. However, we hope that the new owners of the mall will also join the coalition to protect our community.
Tri-County Industries continues to violate state regulations. The good news is that their illegal activities are being documented by the news media and the DEP. Their Seneca Landfill in Butler County was recently fined $22,000 for odor and other violations

Channel 11 investigative reporters also uncovered Vogel’s truck drivers illegally mixing recyclables with household trash and yard wastes
. This news was televised several times during the Thanksgiving weekend
And finally, the
had front page coverage on Wednesday of Liberty Township Supervisors Elect Chuck Larish and Bob Pebbles addressing the leachate problem. They and CEASRA members attended the Springfield Twp. meeting on Monday to discuss possible flooding and pollution when 65,000 gallons of daily leachate will be dumped near Route 258 on the Springfield/Liberty border. TCL is currently submitting applications for air and water permits that will be needed before they can receive the landfill permit, and the Township Supervisors have an opportunity to give feedback to the DEP.
We will keep you posted when there is more news. Hope you and yours enjoy a happy holiday.
